Checking It Out

Awhile after they let, we went outside to check things out. I am concerned about a couple of items that we noticed after they left. We couldn't see these things due to "flying" concrete.

One of our spa seat levels is much lower than it's supposed to be. Also, the trench around our endless spa is uneven in one area. I also wonder about the height of the steps and the size. The two top ones are very big, and the last one is quite shallow. Oh well, I'll ask our supervisor on Monday. I don't really know how much that they can correct with pebble finish.

Overall, I am happy with the shape that we chose. It's looking good.

Top Gunite

Our supervisor promised that he would call me as soon as he knew when the gunite guys would come. He didn't know until 6:00 this morning and was kind enough to call at 8:00. The guys arrived at 9:00, and got busy right away.

What a difference between imagining a pool in your backyard and actually seeing the form of it there. I'm so happy so far with the results. I've been agonizing over every detail, because when something costs as much as a pool, you want to get it right!

During the process, I was glad that I was here, because my step shape wasn't going to work out right. The guys corrected it by the spa. They still didn't form them just like the plan on the near side. I'll have to talk to the supervisor about that. The guys worked so hard on a very hot day. They finished at around 1:00-1:30, and still had another pool to go do 45 minutes away. I can't imagine working so hard every day.

Plumbing and Electrical Done

They came and finished the electric on Thursday and completed the plumbing today. We're on the gunite list for either tomorrow or Monday. I'm really hoping for tomorrow (Saturday) so we all can be home to watch. Our cool supervisor is lobbying for us for the Saturday shoot. We'll have to see what happens.

I'm digging it!

Tropical Storm Rita is passing through South Florida, so Artesian Pools called and asked if they could switch our dig to today. Their original dig was in Naples, and they thought that the chance of rain would be less here. They were right! We only had a couple of squalls, and it turned out to be a great day to dig. Rita turned into a Hurricane during the day, but thankfully spared us.

They arrived at about 9:00 and started right away. They are working on the rebar, and it should be done by 6:30. They told me that it would be inspected tomorrow and that plumbing and electric would be in right after that. They also told me that we could have gunite by the end of the week!

I got to meet the project supervisor and he was really nice.I came home during lunch to see the progress, and was impressed.

This afternoon blew me away. I worried to death about what it would look like, and I had an idea of what I thought it would look like. I am so happy because it's better than I imagined. When I got home and looked out the window, I got goose bumps!!!

The workers have all been so nice. I hope the entire process is as easy as this. And so it begins...

Before

I had to show a couple of "before" pictures, so you all could see what we started with. We have a nice little lake in our back yard. We stopped weeding in the back when we knew that they were going to tear it all out anyway.
