They're Back!

Well, the guys came back to paint my patio, but they just painted what had not been painted before. The trouble was that half of the areas that had been painted the day before had been wet when it rained and had been watered down with most of it washed away. Then the pressure washing seemed to make it dirtier.

They said that when they do the second coat, I won't notice the difference. The jury is out on that one.

The pictures show the difference in the two areas. Also, check out Kara, who just couldn't wait for the pool to be finished to sun bathe.

Paint, Rain, Equipment, Pressure Wash!

Well, today I got up and the concrete guys weren't here again, but I was happy. I knew that a cold front was going to be coming through with some rain, and that behind it was perfect weather. But guess what? They decided to come anyway. I think the storm thing has sort of been a theme with the pool. They started rolling the paint on the deck. I think that I like the color. The jury is out on that because of course it started to rain. It started out light but then poured for 10 minutes. Long enough to wash the paint off the deck and make a total mess for them. They left and said that they would be back to pressure wash it the next day. In the meantime, the guys arrived to deliver the equipment and to hook it up. They were here and gone in no time at all. They did a nice job. I was disappointed to see that they covered up where my kids wrote their names in the cement though. After they left, one of the cement guys came back and pressure washed today!

This has been quite the busy day!

Spraycrete Applied

Yesterday, the workers came to take down our existing screen porch and to apply a slurry of concrete to our back porch. I decided to go ahead and go see Harry Potter with my sons, and was surprised to see when I returned that they actually went ahead and did the spraycrete, too. It's not painted, but boy is it glaring! I hope the gray that I picked is dark enough to tone things down out there.

It's good to know that we're on our way and the end is getting closer!

We Got Decked!

This morning I awoke to the sweet sound of a cement saw cutting off a chunk of our existing patio. The concrete guys finally arrived to complete phase one of our deck. They were very nice and conscience craftsman. They'll be back on December 26th to do the spraycrete and paint the deck. Hooray!!

Feeling Better

Today, the president of the pool company called to go over a question with me about a valve actuator. What a great guy! I talked to him about some of my concerns and he was kind enough to address each one. The reason I went to this company was this man. He is a business man that understands that I am his customer, and he aims to please. If I run into any other concerns, I think that I will be able to talk to him to handle them. He follows the things I said in the last post, and I believe that he wants his employees to do the same.

Do It Twice When You Do It The Wrong Way The First Time

My supervisor actually said that I needed to be here when he moved the door because I make him do everything twice and he doesn't want to have to do it again. I told him that was an unfair statement.

Let's see
1. Gunite (originally done wrong - fixed? Well sort of)
2. Equipment (not right on HIS plan, but correct on our signed copy - moved to correct location)
3. Door placement (called and asked for it to be moved...must have forgotten - now marked to be moved)

Do things right the first time, call when you say you are going to call, find the answers to questions that you are asked, do things right, and things will go must more smoothly. Oh yea, and don't blame the customer for your errors when they've trusted you to do the job that you were hired for. I don't understand why one minute he's very nice, and the next he comes up with a harsh statement.

I've seen my company's pools and they have been beautiful. What they don't understand is if they treat me well and do a good job, I will sing their praises. Goodness. I hope all will go well from now on.

Formed Deck

Today they came and formed the deck. I was told that we would have a complete deck by the end of last week, but at least they came. I had told the supervisor that I wanted the door by the house next door moved over some so that the neighbors couldn't see right in the door to our spa. He told me that he'd get back to me after he found out if it would be OK with the screen guy. He didn't, so it wasn't changed. I'll have to call him to let him know.

He hasn't gotten back to me about a separate automatic control for my sheer arc or about talking to the spraycrete guy.

He did say to place our umbrella sleeves where we want them, and the deck guys would set them in.
